Our Christmas Eve gathering will be at 5:30pm and will include candles and singing.  There is no worship gathering on Christmas Day.  Our normal gathering / time will occur on the Sundays of December 26 & January 2.

To go along with our Advent series Awkward Christmas, we’re collecting your favorite awkward family Christmas photographs. Share them with us by email between now and January 1 by sending them to info@therockseward.org

New faith growth opportunities are now available, starting in January 2022:

Men’s Breakfast, Saturdays at 7 a.m. in the Rock Café, starting on January 15. Topic we’ll be discussing is Joseph: Carpenter of Steel. Breakfast will be provided. (Led by Pastor Mike)

Camp Luther art contest:  Help to create a piece of art that expresses this year’s theme! All sizes and mediums are welcome. Camp Luther will choose one winner from each age category, and the artwork will be featured in their spring newsletter! Age categories are: Grades K-2; Grades 3-5; Grades 6-8. Please label your work on the back with your name, age, grade, school, and address. The winner in each age group will receive a $100 scholarship to any youth camp session in 2022! Art pieces should be related to the 2022 camp theme: “Rooted” with the theme verse of Ephesians 3:17-18.  Entries must be received by Wednesday, January 26. Please call the Camp Luther office at 402-352-5655 with any questions.

Replenishing the Building Fund: This year, The Rock has invested over $28,000 on facility-related initiatives for maintenance and improvements, including the Blue Valley partnership building renovation and needed enhancements to the facility and grounds.  Thanks be to God, over $19,000 has been contributed to make these improvements.  Nonetheless, The Rock’s building fund, now hovering at about $20,000, needs a boost of $15,000 to restore it to previous levels and fund 2021-22 initiatives.  If you are in a position to make an additional gift to the Building Fund this year, large or small, it will bless The Rock’s ministry. We’ve already been blessed to receive $1,500 toward our goal! Thank you.

You can give to this fund in the offering basket on Sundays, or give online in our Special Projects category. (Indicate “building fund” to designate your gift.)

New snow blower in search of service-minded humans:  We have a new, powerful snow blower to clear sidewalks this winter (as well as a smaller unit)!  We are in need of volunteers to serve on a side-walk clearing crew.  Weekend (for Sundays) and week-day slots are open.  Even if you can only help on occasion, please contact danna.seevers@gmail.com to discuss how you can help.

Please consider helping send The Rock Youth to the 2022 LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, TX! The Rock Youth is holding an envelope donation fundraiser to help send the youth and adult leaders to the LCMSNYG in Houston next summer! Simply choose an envelope and give the corresponding amount (in dollars $$$) marked on the envelope. Fill your envelope and drop in the box! There are literally a hundred ways to give. No donation is too small!

Thank you for considering a financial gift during this holiday season, especially in a time when it is increasingly challenging to be a teenager who follows Jesus. Questions? Contact Jen Axt by email: jen.axt@gmail.com or phone: 308.631.7065

  • Plan to stay after the service on September 29 for a “Family Favorites” potluck lunch, followed by a voters’ meeting to review and approve the 2019-20 ministry plan and review needed building repairs.  Family Favorites Potluck Instructions: We are asking each family to bring two dishes.  All families, please bring a main dish that is one of your family’s favorites.  If your last name begins with A to N – please also bring a family favorite side dish or a salad.  If your last name begins with O to Z – please also bring a family favorite dessert.  Drinks and table service will be provided.   Power strips will be available to plug in crock pots and the like.  If you can’t bring food, join us anyway!

  • 25 by 25:  We recently launched a campaign to raise $25,000 by October 25 to cover some unanticipated building expenses. Brick repair is needed on the upper north exterior wall of the Rock facility. There are areas where water (and snow in the winter) are leaking through. The solution to this issue is tuck pointing to repair the brick at a cost of just under $21,000.  Second, it is necessary to perform some maintenance on the elevator. The recent regular elevator inspection revealed that the elevator “jack” should be repacked at a cost of around $3,200. Rather than borrowing these funds to complete the necessary repairs, the Board of Directors believes it is best to conduct a short-term fundraising campaign. Feel free to ask questions at our meeting after worship this Sunday.
