On Sunday, October 23 at 11:30 AM our congregation is hosting an educational workshop featuring Craig Stirtz.  Craig serves as the Nebraska District and Concordia University, Nebraska Gift Planning Counselor, assisting our members as we plan gifts for loved ones and ministry, which is a service he has been providing for 30 years in Nebraska.

Craig will cover multiple topics including:  ways to create an estate plan that reduces taxes and maximizes what your loved ones are able to keep, how assets pass (inside and outside of probate), common mistakes people make and how to avoid them, why comprehensive estate planning is important, legacy planning (planning both for loved ones and ministry) and how to make gifts for ministry without disinheriting your loved ones.

This workshop is not a sales pitch as Craig has no products to sell and makes no commissions.  It is an opportunity for you to hear what he has learned through his work that will help you avoid mistakes and maximize your gifts to loved ones and ministry.

You are welcome to come to the church for the presentation on Sunday, October at 11:30 AM. Please sign up by CLICKING HERE to register or notify Scott Seevers at scott.seevers@cune.edu of your interest to join us. A light lunch is provided.

Craig offers free, confidential and family focused planning for those wishing to include one or more LCMS ministries in their estate plan – including our congregation.  For more information about his services, plan to attend the workshop or contact Craig at 402-616-0312 or craig.stirtz@lfnd.org.

  • 25 by 25:  We recently launched a campaign to raise $25,000 by October 25 to cover some unanticipated building expenses. Brick repair is needed on the upper north exterior wall of the Rock facility. There are areas where water (and snow in the winter) are leaking through. The solution to this issue is tuck pointing to repair the brick at a cost of just under $21,000.  Second, it is necessary to perform some maintenance on the elevator. The recent regular elevator inspection revealed that the elevator “jack” should be repacked at a cost of around $3,200. Rather than borrowing these funds to complete the necessary repairs, the Board of Directors believes it is best to conduct a short-term fundraising campaign. Feel free to ask questions at our meeting after worship this Sunday.

Please bring enough of a dish to feed your family and share with others. Bring your own drinks, lawn chairs, blankets, etc. All Stepping Stones, FaithInk, and Godparent families are invited to  join us for this kickoff picnic.

The first night of faith building activities will be September 11 from 6:30-7:30 at The Rock on level 2.  Learn more about Stepping Stones and Faith Ink on our website, and register your kids by clicking on the “Register Here” links. Students: Get to know some Seward locals, have someone to sit by at worship, enjoy a home-cooked meal or some baked goods, be a “big brother or sister” to any young kids in your “adopted family,” know that you have someone close by cheering you on, supporting you and praying for you!

Families: Get to know a Concordia student, invite them over for a meal or out to lunch after church once in awhile, make them a “finals-week” goodie basket or bake them a cake on their birthday, attend their sporting/performing arts events when you can, support and pray for them!

  • Starting September 9, join some of the men of The Rock at the Sparetime during football game halftime for devotions.

  • Did you know that there are four opportunities in Nebraska for students to get connected to Lutheran student ministry and deepen their faith? You can learn more about these ministries at http://www.ndlcms.org/district-ministries/ or ask Kim Myers or Rich Boring for more information.
