Camp Luther art contest:  Help to create a piece of art that expresses this year’s theme! All sizes and mediums are welcome. Camp Luther will choose one winner from each age category, and the artwork will be featured in their spring newsletter! Age categories are: Grades K-2; Grades 3-5; Grades 6-8. Please label your work on the back with your name, age, grade, school, and address. The winner in each age group will receive a $100 scholarship to any youth camp session in 2022! Art pieces should be related to the 2022 camp theme: “Rooted” with the theme verse of Ephesians 3:17-18.  Entries must be received by Wednesday, January 26. Please call the Camp Luther office at 402-352-5655 with any questions.

Replenishing the Building Fund: This year, The Rock has invested over $28,000 on facility-related initiatives for maintenance and improvements, including the Blue Valley partnership building renovation and needed enhancements to the facility and grounds.  Thanks be to God, over $19,000 has been contributed to make these improvements.  Nonetheless, The Rock’s building fund, now hovering at about $20,000, needs a boost of $15,000 to restore it to previous levels and fund 2021-22 initiatives.  If you are in a position to make an additional gift to the Building Fund this year, large or small, it will bless The Rock’s ministry. We’ve already been blessed to receive $1,500 toward our goal! Thank you.

You can give to this fund in the offering basket on Sundays, or give online in our Special Projects category. (Indicate “building fund” to designate your gift.)

New snow blower in search of service-minded humans:  We have a new, powerful snow blower to clear sidewalks this winter (as well as a smaller unit)!  We are in need of volunteers to serve on a side-walk clearing crew.  Weekend (for Sundays) and week-day slots are open.  Even if you can only help on occasion, please contact danna.seevers@gmail.com to discuss how you can help.

Please consider helping send The Rock Youth to the 2022 LCMS National Youth Gathering in Houston, TX! The Rock Youth is holding an envelope donation fundraiser to help send the youth and adult leaders to the LCMSNYG in Houston next summer! Simply choose an envelope and give the corresponding amount (in dollars $$$) marked on the envelope. Fill your envelope and drop in the box! There are literally a hundred ways to give. No donation is too small!

Thank you for considering a financial gift during this holiday season, especially in a time when it is increasingly challenging to be a teenager who follows Jesus. Questions? Contact Jen Axt by email: jen.axt@gmail.com or phone: 308.631.7065

October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Pastor Appreciation should be more than just a designated event on the calendar but an encouragement to him in service to God and the Church. How can you participate?

  • Pray for your pastor daily.
  • Creatively communicate words of encouragement to your pastor for his service to God and the Church with a card.
  • Take special care to listen and respond to your pastor’s sermons.
  • Team up with your local Christian bookstore to recognize and honor your pastor by giving a gift card to purchase a book or other special items.
  • Send a Pastor Appreciation gift basket which includes thoughtful gifts for your pastor’s kids and your pastor’s wife.
  • Be aware of the unique needs of the pastor’s children by providing financial help for camp, youth group retreats or missionary trips.
  • Invite them to a dinner or party with your family and friends

This only scratches the surface of what you can do to show your appreciation to pastor and his family for their service to God, Forever Family at The Rock, and community.

Rock News for March 6, 2021

This past week, the Seward City Council repealed the ordinance that mandated the wearing of masks in all public buildings, including places of worship. This removes the mask mandate from municipal code.

In response to this change, The ROCK will implement the following additional update to its “Returning To Worship Guidance Document” beginning MARCH 7, 2021:

–Appropriate physical distancing and wearing of masks will be at the discretion of each worshipping group.

–The distribution of Holy Communion will continue to utilize our current practice: use of masks and hand sanitizer by communion assistants, recipients come forward in one single file line.

The Rock encourages those who attend public worship to keep everyone’s safety in mind and respect their personal decisions. Each worshiper must make a personal decision about the levels of safety and normalcy they require, as well as, their individual facts and circumstances.

Visit our website for the full details: https://www.therockseward.org/worship/

We hope you’ll stick around after the service on Sunday, March 21 for another Forever Family meal. We’ll have a baked potato bar set up with lots of toppings, and we’ll provide all plates, utensils, etc. Please bring some dessert to share.

Let The Rock egg your house (or someone else’s) just in time for Easter. On the evening of April 3, 2021 we will come to your home (or the home of a friend or neighbor) and hide 12 Easter Eggs in the yard. There will be 11 candy-filled eggs and 1 empty egg as a reminder of the empty tomb! $10 per dozen eggs

Please contact jen axt (308) 631-7065 by text/phone or by email: jen.axt@gmail.com

Thank you for being so faithful in your giving. As a reminder, we now have 5 giving options:

  • Drop your offering in the basket in the Cafe area if you are attending in-person worship. We won’t be passing the baskets during the service.
  • You can mail your offering checks to us at: The Rock Church, PO Box 199, Seward, NE 68434

Through a collaboration with the InFaith Community Foundation and Thrivent Financial, The Rock will not be assessed any fees if you give through this online portal.
  • Joyful Response is a way for individuals to make their stewardship commitment to God through The Rock on a regular basis. • Forever Family Snack and Game Night:  To wrap up this year in Stepping Stones and FaithInk, we’re inviting all families to join with our children/teens and our volunteer teachers on Wednesday, April 24 in the Rock Cafe area from 6:30-7:30 for a snack/dessert potluck and some family games. Bring a finger food, snack, or dessert to share while we enjoy a family night. Since this is a Forever Family event, all members of The Rock of all ages are invited to join us, whether they have young children at home or not. We’ll provide drinks and table service.

  • Easter Breakfast: Join us starting at 9:00 on Easter morning for a breakfast of eggs, bacon, cinnamon rolls and fruit. Our teens will be serving you and a freewill offering will be taken at the serving table to help cover some of their costs at this summer’s National Youth Gathering. If you’d like to help sponsor our teens, you can also give online through Thrivent. Thrivent covers all fees, so 100% of your online giving goes to the youth and their leaders. Click here to make a donation to send our kids to the Gathering.

  • Tastefully Simple Fundraiser: Our teens are also selling Tastefully Simple items as a fundraiser for their trip to the Gathering. Find a teen on Sunday, or check with Jennifer Janousek for more information.
