Purpose for Children's Ministry at The Rock Lutheran Church, Seward, Nebraska
Children Deuteronomy 6:4-5, Psalm 78:4, Mark 10:13-16, 2 Timothy 3:14-15
Through the power of the Holy Spirit, children receive the gift of faith, the assurance of salvation, and the blessing of spiritual gifts.
Stepping Stones is a place where God's children can learn and share His Word in an interactive and loving environment. It is an integral part of equipping the young members of The Rock to share Christ's love with everyone, in every way, and everywhere.
- Children will learn God's Salvation story through active learning techniques.
- Children will share God's love with friends that they bring and the friends in their group.
- Children will worship God through music and play.
- Children will serve their community through purposeful projects.
- Children will invite their friends to join them in sharing Christ's love.
Family Deuteronomy 6:4-9, Joshua 24:15, Ephesians 6:4, Titus 2:1-8
By God's design, parents have the primary responsibility of faith formation for their children. As parents respond to God's grace they recognize the need for support, encouragement and accountability of the congregation in order to fulfill their call as spiritual mentors for their children.
- Parents will be encouraged and supported in their roles as primary faith nurturers in their children's lives.
- Parents will be given opportunities to participate in the children's ministry experiences.
- The children's ministry team will be available as a resource to parents as they fulfill their call as spiritual mentors for their children.
Congregation Psalm 78:1-4, Proverbs 22:6, Mark 9:37
The congregation interacts with, prays for, and equips parents and children for the purpose of passing on faith to the next generation, and it receives spiritual blessings when it welcomes children.
- The presence of children is welcomed and valued, and careful plans are made to assure their meaningful participation in worship and other events.
- Within the congregation, children will be nurtured through positive spiritual role models.
- The congregation is committed to praying generally and specifically for parents and their children.
