Rock News

Dear Friends:

Here’s your Rock news for the week:

THIS SUNDAY:  Life these days is REALLY LOUD!  The TV or radio is always on, the kids are loud and things are always beeping, dinging, ringing or ticking.  Is there any time or place that is just quiet?  Join us this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Lied Senior Center.  We’ll take some time for silence and to talk about the discipline of finding God in the quiet times.

COME EARLY TO GO DEEPER:  Everyone is welcome to do some bible study before our gathering each Sunday.  Come to the Rocker Room at the Lied Senior Center a little early (at 8:45 a.m.) to dig deeper into the book of Acts.

CRUISE IN CAR SHOW SEPT. 26!  Head over to Sparetime in Seward on THIS SATURDAY, September 26, from 4pm to 9pm to see all kinds of cool cars that will be cruising into Seward.  Bring the whole family for food and activities and great cars.  Proceeds go to support Seward County CASA.

KEEP UP THE WEDNESDAY WORK!  Please come help with work at the new Rock (237 S. 3rd ) this Wednesday from 5pm to 8pm or so.  There is much left to do.  We need people to do cleaning and lots of other things.  The fire marshal inspection this week went well so we can begin finalizing a schedule for completion and move-in dates soon!

BRING YOUR TOYS THIS SUNDAY!  Stepping Stones is looking for building toys.  If you are willing to donate new or gently used items such as building blocks, tinker toys, KNEX, Duplos, Legos, tools, interlocking gear sets, connecting tube toys, and other building toys for age 3-grade 4, please bring those items to The ROCK this Sunday.

BLUE VALLEY PANTRY:   This is the last Sunday for boxed meals for the pantry.  If you are planning ahead, October is rice.

LIFE CHAIN SUNDAY:  Plan to attend the life chain at the Seward Courthouse Square from 2pm to 3pm on Sunday, October 4.  Life Chain is an annual peaceful and prayerful public witness of pro-life Americans standing for one hour silently praying for an end to abortion.  It is a visual statement of solidarity by the Christian community that abortion kills children and that the church supports the sanctity of human life from the moment of conception.  Meet at the west side of the Courthouse to pick up a sign and then line up along highways 15 and 34. – Sponsored by Seward County Pro-Life Council.

REFUGEE ASSISTANCE:  The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod is gathering funds to provide assistance to refugees fleeing conflict in the Middle East.  The LCMS is working with a partner church in Germany to help our brothers and sisters in Germany reach out to the arriving refugees.  To learn more or to help, click here:  http://blogs.lcms.org/2015/persecuted-christians-refugees.

Blessings on your weekend.

Dear Friends:

It’s game day (GBR and Go Dawgs)!  Here’s your Rock news for the week:

THIS SUNDAY:  It’s Game Day and time for a new series called (conveniently enough) Game Day!  Join us this Sunday at 10:00 a.m. at the Lied Senior Center for Week 1.  Before the team hits the field, you need to huddle up with the coach.  We’ll take some time to look at how the team gets ready. ALSO:  If you haven’t had the chance to finish your Remember and Give Thanks assignments, it is still a good time to get them done.  Week 1 Assignment – Put your memorial “rock” somewhere to help you remember how God has helped and guided you over the last 10 years; Week 2 Assignment – Send a thank you note to someone who has been a big influence in your life; Week 3 – take $5 (or whatever amount you want) and use it to “pay forward” all the blessings God has showered on us.  ALSO PART TWO:  Don’t forget your chance to dig a little deeper on Sunday mornings.  Come to the Lied Senior Center a little early (at 8:45 a.m.) to participate in a video-based discussion called, “The Bible On Trial:  Beyond A Reasonable Doubt.”
